Math Educator (K-8)
Part-Time. Corona, CA
STEAM Academy has an exciting and challenging opportunity that is designed to meet the needs of homeschool families in the Inland Empire. With many families taking more control of their children’s education and deciding to homeschool, STEAM Academy has developed an innovative STEAM Homeschool Hybrid program for K-8 students. With a team of academic advisors, administrators, psychologists, and community partners, STEAM Academy has developed a homeschool hybrid program for K-8 students. We use an immersive and educational curriculum for each stage in K-8 learning. STEAM Academy provides engaging and educational activities that support healthy social-emotional growth and a fun learning environment for homeschool students and their families. STEAM Academy is not a school, our homeschooling program partners with parents to offer top-tier classes to enrich student’s homeschooling experience.
STEAM Academy is currently hiring 3 part-time Math Educators for the 2022-2023 school year. This position runs from September 6, 2022 to May 16, 2023 with one week of training in August.
The Math Educator has a talent for instructing, motivating, and mentoring students in the area(s) of Language Arts, Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and/or Social Emotional Learning. This position is responsible for instructing students in a safe learning environment
Responsibilities
- Represent STEAM Academy in a positive and professional manner.
- Completes all training and keeps abreast of educational trends.
- Plan and prepare educational activities and learning strategies that meet state standards
- Understands the teaching materials and concepts for assigned grade levels.
- Able to provide value to students of all learning abilities and interests.
- Manages classroom dynamics and learning sessions, ensuring the students are safe, engaged, and having fun learning.
- Communicate in a knowledgeable, respectful and tactful manner to address questions or concerns.
- Adheres to all STEAM Academy safety procedures and procedures
- Regularly communicates with the Director with questions, concerns and updates and responds in a timely manner.
Must Have:
- A pretty good understanding of Classroom Management
- A good knowledge of Common Core math strategies; or sharp enough to quickly pick up the basic concepts
- Good organizational skills
- Enjoy working with children and be fun to work with
- Outgoing and fun personality
- Strong work ethics
- Great planning skills
- Pass a background check
- Good collaboration skills
What the ideal candidate looks like:
- College graduate (or in the process of completing) with a degree in Teaching, Math, Computer Science, Engineering or related subject.
- Must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am -3:00pm with the option of working Wednesdays and Fridays.
- Enthusiastic about STEM education and working with children.
- Some level of experience engaging children in a camps, schools, church or educational settings
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Patient, reliable, and flexible
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina for teaching in various environments, standing for long hours)
- First aid- and CPR-certified
COMPENSATION & PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT
Please DO NOT apply if you are unable to commit either on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30-3:00 from August 2022 to June 2023
Employment is on a part-time basis. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
