Coding/ Robotics Camp Instructor

Part-Time. Corona, CA

STEAM Academy in Corona, CA is looking for smart, creative, dynamic instructors from all backgrounds to lead our Summer Coding and Robotics camps where students are introduced to a range of Engineering concepts while being given the equipment to free their creativity and their problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Represent STEAM Academy in a positive and professional manner.
  • Completes all training programs as required by the Director.
  • Understands the camp materials and concepts and is able to provide value to campers of all learning abilities and interests.
  • Manages each camp session, ensuring the children are safe, engaged, and having fun.
  • Communicate in a knowledgeable, respectful and tactful manner to address questions or concerns.
  • Adheres to all STEAM Academy safety procedures and procedures
  • Regularly communicates with the Director with questions, concerns and updates and responds in a timely manner. 

Must Have: 

  • A pretty good understanding of Roblox and Minecraft video games 
  • A good knowledge of computer programming/coding and technology; or sharp enough to quickly pick up the basic concepts
  • Enjoy working with children and be fun to work with
  • Outgoing and fun personality
  • Strong work ethic
  • Great planning skills
  • Pass a background check
  • Good collaboration skills

What does the ideal candidate look like:  

  • College or High School student (or graduates) with a focus on computer programming or engineering. (Java, Lua, Python and/or C++)
  • Enthusiastic about STEM education and working with children.
  • Preferably some level of experience engaging children in a camps, schools, church or educational settings
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Patient, reliable, and flexible 
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina for teaching in various environments, standing for long hours, assembling equipment and carrying tubs of materials)
  • First aid- and CPR-certified 

Schedule 

Schedules would depend on camp times and assignments.

  • Camp dates: Week of 6/13/22 through week of 8/15/22 (Mon-Fri)
  • Camp Times: 9:00am -6:00pm, 9:00am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm – 4:00 pm or 2:00pm – 6:00pm,

While this is a summer position, candidates who are flexible and available year-round are welcome to apply for a permanent position.
